How Should You Punish Your Children?

Punishing is one way of disciplining children. But it should be given in a way children appreciate and understand. Here are some guidelines on rendering them. Punishment should have a beginning and an end. Don't say "You cannot watch TV until I say so." Your child will endlessly bug you about it until you relent. Your threats will have more weigh if you say; "No TV for three days." Punishment should be enforceable. Be realistic. Don't issue punishment you couldn't enforce and monitor. So forget about grounding your child until he reaches adulthood.
