Calamba City is a first class city in the province of Laguna, Philippines. Situated only 54 kilometers south of Manila, about an hour by chartered bus, Calamba City is a popular tourist destination with its hot spring resorts, most of which are located in Barangay Pansol, and the Canlubang Golf and Country Club, site of many Philippine Opens. Calamba is also an important modern industrial center in the CALABARZON region as shown by the large number of industrial parks and business estates that are located in the city. According to the 2007 census, it has a population of 360,281 inhabitants (281,146 people in 58,466 households in 2000 census).
Calamba City is also the birthplace of José Rizal, the country's national hero.

Today we celebrate the 147th birthday of Dr. Jose Rizal, our National Hero. Early morning of June 19 all floats are being readied for the coming parade. All the stablishments here in Calamba City, province of Laguna, fully supported the special event.

Not only the commercial establishment joined the parade...all the students of different schools, organizations and the common tao beat the heat of the sun to participate and to join their friends and family at the streets.

The statue of Dr. Jose Rizal at the Rizal Park, Manila carries the inscription
I want to show to those who deprive people the right to love of country, that when we know how to sacrifice ourselves for our duties and convictions, death does not matter if one dies for those one loves – for his country and for others dear to him.
